Re: Why not? The ADM has the right to have that seat

In Response To: ADM want a cabinet post in KRG!!!!!!! (Shimon)

Since the KRG is the status quo and recognized by many states, including the United States and Iraq itself, why should the ADM not be part of it since the ADM won "our people's" vote in 1992 in northern Iraq regional elections and in both the Iraqi elections of January and December 2005.
Why should the ministry post be ocupied by a puppet of the KDP selected by the KDP? Why not have the ADM that was voted by our people accupy that position?

Reason, reason, reason.
Convince us why not?

...I'll give it a shot. In these cases it's helpful to think in terms of analogies...seek out some similar case and by looking to see what happened there, learn what to expect in your own case.

Fer instance...a good equivalent to this whole "we were there first so you can never come after us"...would be the case of Native Americans. Their lands, their indigenous lands, were also stolen...only in their case they have actual documents promising them land in exchange...promises that were never honored.

The most the United States did was create a Bureau of Indian Afairs, which never had any Native Americans in it and who were never allowed till recently to vote on anything impacting their own status.

Today Native Americans still can't get anything "back". No indigenous group can or ever will...if nothing else it will set a bad precedent for most developed nations exist on stolen lands...you should just get used to it.

Native Americans tried direct action in the 70s to seize some of the land promised to them and were hunted down by the FBI, many leaders shot outright and others jailed, some of them are still there on trumped up charges. The MOST Native Americans can do is vote...they can't demand a special representative for them in Congress...and any Native American politician who hopes to get into Congress has to appeal to ALL his or her constituents...not just to those from the tribe...there aren't enough votes there for that. Also, as Anna Eshoo well knows, once elected a politician cannot focus energy on her own small ethnic group but has to keep the interests of ALL her constituents in mind...as she is bound to do by oath of office.

There's no such thing as a special politician being voted to any parliament, or appointed, whose task is to advance the agenda of his own minority...never...not anywhere. So why do you expect it to happen in Iraq of all places?
