The war in Iraq is "Faith Based". Faith in Bush, faith in Jesus wanting us to beat Muhammad up, faith in faith. It isn`t a factual thing at all...all of the facts spelled doom from the beginning...that is, if you were silly enough to HAVE FAITH! The real reasons had nothing to do with Christ...same with the Crusades...they had more to do with trade and money...the Venetians and the merchants of Genoa and Pisa were pissed that the eastern Mediterranean was closed to them by the Byzantine fleets...they whispered in the Pope`s ear...he too wanted to rid himself of excess murderers and whatnot, plus the Crusades, the first one at least, immeasurably increased his own prestige...here he was, uniting all of Christendom, to go fight "for Jesus".

But the real reason for these wars was made crystal clear in the outcome of the fifth or sixth Crusade when the sort-of victorious Christians agreed to a treaty that gave them control of the port cities of Tyre and Sidon plus a few others, but took control of Jerusalem OUT of their hands...obviously what really counted was not the birthplace of Jesus but trading posts and filthy lucre...natch.

The Crusaders were heavily dependant on the ships of Venice to bring them over and feed and supply them...it would not do to upset their long line of communication and supply...the Venetians got what they wanted all along..just as in the Fourth Crusade they bribbed the Crusaders to attack their main competition instead of going on to Palestine...the Crusaders spilled oceans of blood conquering Christian Constantinople..the pope was furious but had to forgive them as they begged so nicely...and sent along some of the spoils. What a racket.

And another thing...what is the Mass but a toned down ritual of human, in place of animal, sacrifice? Instead of actually going through the old pagan sacrifies,,,,bloody awful things, the Christians turned it into a "symbolic" act...but one that has the sacrifice of a human bean at its center. Sick, any way you cut it. And what`re ten Ave Marias but a primitve "chant", like any that resounded in temples of old?

Do you think it`s maybe time to drop all this stuff handed down to us from those dark and superstitious days? can`t we at least come up with something a little more recent? Would we dream of submitting any part of our lives today to the rule and manner and traditoions of THOSE days? You want ancient surgery? You want ancient medicine? Why in the name of all that`s holy do we want THEIR MORALITY?

Fishermen are notrorious liars. Shroud of Turin my ass! There are three full bodies of Mary Magdelene in Europe and who knows how many shin bones of St Peter...and then there`s the still fresh blood of St Smith...I mean really! To "have faith" you have be just this side of an idiot. They SAY these were intended for rude and ignorant believers...well, damn me, that`s what they`ve REMAINED!!! If all you give students is a first-grade textbook, even as they grow and develop, of course you`ll have grown idiots for students and will graduate a crop of nincompoops.

Faith may be a nice thing...but you don`t hand weapons of mass destruction, REAL ones, to people of Faith...you want them instead in the hands of people who can face FACTS..like the simple one that no one is ever going to use one of these things for real, but we`ll die from having made them and stored them badly.

How many people do YOU know who have contracted cancer? Count them.
