...my two favorite scholars and clowns. This book of their`s is such a good example of how you only need toy with language slightly to completely alter meaning and truth and probability. In a section I just read they make the point that : "There is NO NEED to posit direct borrowing" when accounting for the striking similarities between Hebrew stuff and Mesopotamian..or Egyptian. In another place they mention the "parallel" development of things like the Noah and Napishtim stories...not to mention Moses and Sargon..or that the Ten Commandments is nothing more than crib notes taken from the code Hammurabi...these are not "direct borrowings" these two funny scholars are intent on proving...they are "parallel developments"...which indicate that the Hebrews were EQUAL PARTNERS with all the great civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egupt and even GREECE...yeah, RIGHT! If two People are separated by miles of ocean or land and never had contact with each other..such as the Aztecs and Australian Aborigines..you could truly say that the development of the bow and arrow in both cultures was a PARALLEL development...but...if the Hebrews never heard of soap...and after a sojurn in Babylon, came back to stinking Jerusalem and "developed soap"...you`d be hard pressed to call that "parallel development of soap"...and state there is no basis to claim "direct borrowing"! These are the kinds of things "scholars" working overtime for Christianity, which is nothing more than a "heretical" sect of Judaism, have been able to do to cloud and lie about our own magnificent civilization..to which, OUR OWN boys have lent their backsides for and still do. Let`s talk about the Hebrew experience as if we were REALLY Assyrians...the Hebrews were, as Don says, for "Hire". Why? Why were they available to work for others and unable to build a pot to piss in themselves? They`ll tell you it`s because they were too busy parallel building "morality" and "Law" and "history". Bull...they ere too busy killing each other over dingbat gods. The Hebrews were taken away by the Egyptians...by the Assyrians...by the Babylonians, they were released by the Persians but the majority decided to STAY...the Romans (who encompassed Greece as well) next took them and finally, when the Romans threw them out to go wander the earth, Europe took them in...are they trying to tell us that they directly "borrowed" NOTHING from these magnificent teachers and masters they had...but discovered it all on their own? Had they the decency to admit how INDEBTED they are to all of us...we could easily let it slide...but to tell us that by changing Napistim to "Noah" they created the story..and borrowed NOTHING...is too much to bear...unless you`re an Asstian who HAS to build them up..by tearing us down. --------------------- - BACK TO INDEX - REPLY - QUOTE - EDIT - DELETE -
