Okay, I don`t want to repeat this too often: Christianity was NOT accepted by masses of people....never and nowhere...not even the Jews wanted it. There is a shred of truth in the Abgar myth in the sense that when a state was converted to Christ...the one to be converted first was the king or tyrant...the people followed only after...after their temples were shut down and their priesthood disbanded. No itinerant monk, through the power of his example and fables of Christ ever converted anyone...what emmisaries of the church did was whisper in a king`s ear all the benefits that would accrue to him if his people believed they were going to be rewarded in a next life and the best way to cash in big would be to live like his poor abject subjects till then. No doubt money and disputed lands were dangled as well.

That`s the only way people "converted" to Jesus. Does it matter? I guess not, apparently. If you tell someone you`re going to rape his mother but then right after you`ll let him into paradise...well...what would a Christian say?

The church tried hard enough to convert Jenghis Khan...but he would have none of it...the Mongols became Muslims instead. Someone wrote on beth that Jenghis was turned DOWN by the church...sure.

>From Durant, refering to northern Europe:

"All but the Estonmians remained pagan till the twelfth century, when the Germans brought Christianity and civilization to them with fire and sword."

...one is tempted to ask, what SORT of civilization.

further..."Finding that Christianity was being used by the Germans as a means of infiltration and domination, the Livonians killed the missionaries, plunged into the Dvina to wash off the stain of baptism, and returned to their native gods."

..."infiltration and domination"....hmmmmmmm.

.and again..."On the urging of his bishops, Otto("king" of Germany)attacked the Wends (Poland)and sought to convert them to Christianity by the sword."

..these and other instances came to light only because independent observers noted them down...the rest of the time the church was able to spread the lie that Christianity was accepted freely by masses and masses of people...it wasn`t and certainly not by the Assyrians. From the time of Christ, the Roman Empire of the West was diddling around in Betnahrain...by the time Constantine decided to force Christianity on his empire, the Romans were actively engaged in wars with the Persians for 200 years during which the front was either the Tigris or Euphrates...later the Eastern Romans were even more heavily involved...Christianity followed everywhere in the wake of the Roman armies...you know damn well they converted our people by the SWORD as fast as they could in order to win their allegiance to the pope in Rome....who was the descendant, not of Peter, but of the Roman Emperors.
