...I recently taught my cousin how to play "Imagine" by John Lennon on the Piano. She is a senior in high school. When I sang the lyrics to her, she became overjoyed and said "I LOVE this song! It is so awesome..."

I asked her, "You've never heard of Imagine by John Lennon?"

"No".

So, we mentioned this to her mom, and she laughed.

A few days later, my aunt mentioned to her brother (who is off at college) that I had taught her how to play Imagine, and he responded with "He taught her how to play WHAT?"

So, my aunt responded by saying... "YOU GO RIGHT NOW AND DOWNLOAD THAT SONG OFF OF THE INTERNET AND LISTEN TO IT!"

It's amazing to me that such a simple, beautiful song with such a great sentiment (and I think John Lennon wrote the music simply so that simpletons like myself could learn it) could be forgotten so quickly by a generation. But not if I have anything to say about it.

Eliminate all sense... eliminate good music. Put the shittiest shit on the radio and television and flood the airwaves with shit. Eliminate art, and turn it into shit shit shit. There's an overabundance of kharra in American pop culture, on TV and on the Radio. I put my TV in the basement and haven't watched it in months. Once in a while I'll catch a special on Detroit Public Television (PBS) or the University of Michigan TV station, or CSPAN... and I'll only listen to the 2 public radio stations in Michigan. There's no other way to remain sane in these insane times.

The radio recently covered a protest in Argentina against bush. I listened to it as I drove to work the other day. They explained how the people traveled for hours to protest...how their sentiment was against Bush and the American War Machine, not against the American people. Their president is brilliant in denouncing bush. Che Guevara banners abounded... I wish that I could have been there. That a villager could express such a great anti-Bush anti-globalization anti-IMF sentiment yet still not blame or hate the American people...well... makes me feel like perhaps he is wise.

Or, perhaps they SHOULD hate and blame the American people who, en masse, are generally indifferent...ignorant... blind... "the masses are asses"...but only in the US of A.

This concludes this rant. Please forgive me.
