Dear Friend, It is the position of both sides of the Church of the East as well as every branch of Christianity that both the Old and New Testaments are accepted. You are right that the New completes the Old, but they are still part of a whole that is one of the basic tenants of faith. Just like a moslem cannot pick and choose which parts of the Koran or Hadith they want to believe and those who do are the source of the problems today, so Christians cannot pick and choose from the Bible what they want to believe. It is just foundational from any branch of Christianity. At the same time, thank you for your comments. It helps us all when we can listen and learn from each other. One day we will have an Assyrian Parliament in Assyria and there will be opposition parties that will all differ on issues, but as loyal opposition in the end line up behind what is decided by he Assyrian Parliament as a whole.
