In 1914, Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne was assassinated in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serbian student. The assassination wasn’t considered a dangerous precursor to upcoming events in Europe. The Archduke was not the most popular person in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, so people didn’t really care. There were some riots in Sarajevo following his death aimed at the Serbians. Anyway the assassination of this fella has been called the trigger for World War I although some people assert that the War could not have been sparked by such a minor incident and its origins lie further back, in the camaraderie’s of the alliances that developed in European after the defeat of France… and forming of the German state under the leadership of Otto von Bismarck in 1871. Revelation 16:16: "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon"? --------------------- |
