I am in the process of repudiating my meeraas shoom/detrimental inheritance as we speak.
This is not a theory, but a lifestyle.
I do it by staying sober, by taking emotional risks, by writing about the experience, by meditating on hope and change, and by resolving my resentment and anger for family/self/society with a pretty wonderful therapist.
I do this not because it's all shakar u verdih (sugar and flowers) but because I have seen the darker side of living in blame as a victim; I've seen it in others in my family and in myself. It's a pretty hopeless and miserable way to BE and it discolors EVERYTHING!!!
