Marx was right on ALL counts. When Marx wrote about the Dialectics Of Man he was referring to the struggle of the working class against the Bourgeoisie, (the Oligarchy) which leads to the ultimate form of human alienation. The alienation and disconnetcion we see today in the American people is directly attributable to Capitalism. How does this alienation set in, according to Marx? In Capitalism, we have the 1% of the Bourgeoisie owning the means and modes of production. These oligarchies hire production workers to produce the products of the Oligarchies at a minimum wage. The Oligarchies in turn, set artificial prices on these products to sell them in the world market. The workers get a set wage for their labor, and the Oligarchies turn around and sell the goods the laborers produced at incredible profit margins. The worker does not share in this profit or benefit from this profit in any way. The profit of the Oligarchy is what sets the alienation of the worker in motion. The workers become alienated not only from the labor they are engaged in, but because of their exploition, become alienated from themselves, as well, to the extent that they no longer have power over their own finances, or their lives or their family's lives, or their own own destiny, as their wages are PREDETERMINED. The Oligarchy, at this point, become the controllers of the world market, as well, manipultaing the prices of their goods depending on their needs, as well as their relationship to the political system they help to implement and maintain. By manipulating the world market, they set the standards by which these workers will live, as well, to the extent that the worker is also a consumer now, and paying much higher prices for the goods they produced. If a worker is paid $7.7S per hour to produce these goods, and the price of the goods he needs to purchase exceed that amount, he will depend on credit, which keeps him in an endless vicsious cycle of poverty. If the Oligarchies are the BIG corporations, then they are setting the interest rate at which these poor workers will be obliged to pay for this credit. Interest rates are determined by the Gross National Product. If the GNP is controlled by the Oligarchy as well, then it is also artificial, and therefore can also be manipulated. They can stop production at any time and cause inflation by laying off thousands of workers. Who can afford these goods now if the Oligarchy controls EVERYTHING? Inflation leads to stagflation, and on and on. Since the profit margin is being controlled by the few, democracy becomes the tool of the few, the rich, the elite, and the powerful. The Corporations are the extension of the Bourgeoisie. The corporate policies are extended to the political system, in as much as that the system depends on the support of the Oligarchies. This is a symbiotic relationship, (one creates the other, and one depends on the other for existence.) The workers, no longer having a relationship with the labor they are engaged in, become dehumanized and demoralized, which leads to apathy. They not only suffer from a personal alienation, but at this point, they now have no power over the policies set by the Oligarchy, and thus democracy becomes inaccessible to them. Since it is now a democracy for the few, the many become alienated from the very system in which they live, not knowing who controls things. This is why voting in America is institutionalized. It was the Oligarchy that implemented the two-party system in America. The founding fathers were the Rich land owners. They implemented the sort of Democracy that would benefit THEM. You get to vote either for the policy makers themsleves, (i.e the Oligarchy) OR for the ones the policy makers HIRE to do their dirty work and keep the system in place. --------------------- |
