I am jealous!!! Laurie's pizza near you!!! Oh my! I'm surprise it's still there. I know what you mean. There's no sense of community in California. YOu can live next to someone 10 or more years and never know their name. When I lived in the burbs of Chicago, I couldn't wait to go to the city. I would make an excuse to be there every day, shopping, friends, restaurants, etc. My favorite days spent in the City were the days we'd go to the Cubs games. We'd park FAR and have to walk at least 10 blocks to Wrigley Field. Passing friendly people in the streets, on the roof tops, waving at us. I also loved going through the University of Chicago on the South Side, to get to the Oriental Institute. I loved the Field Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Lincoln Park Zoo. I think Chicago has more to offer than any other city, even more than New York. I love walking down Miracle Mile, State Street, going to the top of the John Hanckock for dinner, walking along Navy Pier, watching the fireworks on the 4th of July, eating Italian sausage smothered in fried onions and peppers. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm so good! --------------------- |
