I have some friends that are CAJUN, from Louisiana. When I first met them they introduced themselves as French Accadians, but 6th generation Americans. Then when I said I am Assyrian, they said "we are Assyrians too." I asked how could that be? They said Accadians are the ancient AKKADIANS, which were Assyrians! I guess the French spell "Akkadian" with a double C. They mentioned all these nationalities but not once did they mention they were Christian-Assyrians, because they KNOW not all Assyrians are Christians!!!! This means you can be ANY nationality or religion and still be an Assyrian, descendents of the ancient empire. By the way, Fred, what's the difference between Iraqi Assyrian food and any Iraqi Muslim's food? We eat Kubba, dolma, bakklava, halwa, Harisa, Rice, Bomya, the same as they do. We dance Hizza, Sheikhani the same as they do. The only difference between a Christian Assyrian in Iraq from a Muslim Assyrian in Iraq is that some of the Muslim women are expected to wear the Hijab! --------------------- |
