It is the perfect "cult" scenario. Each cult has it's various elements working together to spread their sphere of influence, grow their numbers, and increase their power. These busy bees do a lot of conscious recruiting work and put in a lot of effort to preach, shape and mold their victims to 1) establish a powerful network, 2) use these new recruits to bring in more followers, and 3)produce the next generation that will take over their work.
