...jeezuz h keerist...you READ??? ...I`ve read everything Kazantzakis wrote...or damn near. A truly singular genius. But for me...nothing comes as close to a "religious" sense of Christ more than Jesus Christ Superstar...I know I know...how uncultured can you be! But I can`t help it...the story itself IS theatre...and doing it in such a theatrical way seemed the perfect fit. ...the interpretation by Jewison...who I think is a great and creative director, has that extra dimension...such as when the camera stops on the line..."..won`t you DIE for ME"! I loved that especially...because there isn`t a Christian alive..who buys this nonsense about heaven and hell...and who is so damn desperate to avoid the one and get into the other, who would NOT be the first one to nail his "Savior" to that cross...and Jewison hinted at it as much as he dared. --------------------- |
