Nonetheless, I think the Dalai Lama's actions remain courageous and inspiring- carrying out the Buddhist message/using his "celebrity", if you will, to propagate a semblance of hope and non-violence.
I'm all for Palestinians casting stones at tanks, drag queens in New York attacking cops with their pumps and feather boas at The Stonewall, etc., but I think you'd find it pretty inexcusable if I were to raid straight clubs and blow myself up in protest of sexism, ageism, homophobia, misogyny.
