This article drew so much nostalgia for me! I LOVED the Gilman. I used to cut school early get on the BART and go to Berkeley to hang out on Telegraph on the days I was going to a show in Gilman. Then when I ended up at university there, all I did was listen to music and go to shows at Gilman. I remember seeing Green Day play there my freshman year and I distinctly remember thinking "that lead singer is cute but for his jacked teeth." :) So many bands came through there... Some that you could tell were on to something great (and the ones that didn't actually make it left me puzzled always). Thanks Tony for reminding just how old and disconnected I am with the Qasrani of my youth. I wonder if I will be driving a minivan in another 10 years... I shutter at the thought. --------------------- |
