I did indeed have a petition and had it signed by as many Assyrians as know their last name...but there was a reason for that...the next day I was at the college president's office with the petitons...I didn't mail them to her...I told her staff I wasn't leaving until I spoke with her personally...they called her downtown at a meeting of the trustees and we spoke on the phone...when I told her that Dr Ross had compared my ancestors to Hitler (at which she uttered "ohhh noooo")she said she would hurry back to campus and she did...we met in her office...she called Dr Ross to attend...during the next hour I laid out my grievences...told Dr. Ross I didn't appreciate his telling us who we can and can't be...and demanded a public debate...all of which was agreed to and we proceeded from there. Under NO conditions would I have appeared on campus with a SIGN and an ARM BAND to parade in front of his door. We don't swoop down on people in our chariots any longer... we do the next best thing. We swoop down on them WITHOUT the chariots! --------------------- |
