Jeff, Whenever I meet a non-Assyrian, they start to speak to me in Spanish, Italian, Greek, Portugese, Jewish, or Arab. I have an unmistakable Mediterranean look, and I fit all those descriptions, and this, in and of itself, forces me to immediately correct them and say, "I am an Assyrian". Sometimes I don't know why I say it, I mean what is the value in it, to me and others? then I immediately think, "I HAVE to say it, and repeatedly, because it's all I have left. Besides, if they are speaking to me in their language, the least I can do is answer them in mine. --------------------- |
