Absolutely horrifying and unprofessional, old-country/village-Assyrianism at its best! The mere suggestion of one adult/semi-established artist's mother, and the artist herself, contacting another artist's- again- MOTHER for his comments/remarks/dissections/etc. is indeed disappointing to say the least. I would hate to sound "above or beyond" such behaviour, but even I- cocksucking in the gutter- have more decorum and self-respect than that! Come on! When will we grow up? And what in the world gives us such entitlement to abuse our personal-contact-priviledges? Just because we're both Assyrian does not mean you have the right to call my mother to settle a score that is not yours to settle/mettle? The freedom that Farid, you, and I have to express ourselves is the same freedom that allows Ms. Malek to write and publish her book. It's a two-way-street. If you're not strong enough to be an artist/human on this planet DON'T play. Stay under a rock. I visited Ms. Malik's website not long ago and spent a great deal of time reading her bio and viewing her still images. From the way her bio read it sounded like she came from a forward-thinking progressive and exceptional family. SOUNDED good. But I guess that's all we're capable of doing, we self-satisfied/loathing Assyrians. And yet, the uncouth phonecall itself certainly discredits the entire bio. Although I support anyone who writes and creativity in general, no matter what they write/create, I am deeply opposed to mendacity in one's personal life and ethics. But really... after all is said and done... None of anything really matters all that much... E --------------------- |
