Saddam shot threatening ppl, Peter BetAsso is no threat to anyone and never has been. Trying with all his might to be a source to be reckoned with he will never be "in" the circles of decision-making nor will he ever effectuate policies. What AINA publishes are hearsay accounts peppered with imaginative conspiracy and then they cut and paste what they feel like. And btw, that whole AINA project was initiated on the heels of Wilfred's creation of Zenda, which is now Zinda. Peter was not to be left out in the cold without an outlet by himself, for himself. Let him yap and write and quote anonymous sources in every "news report" that he posts. Rarely do the things that come out of AINA have the name of an author or names of sources. It's a sorry excuse for journalism and that's why they will never be quoted in mainstream media and only in right-wing agenda-seeking piddley publications. But we can easily ascertain that while the facts maybe partly true the rest is the machinations of a seriously ill brain. It reminds me very much of a writer that I used to edit when I was at a paper in Lebanon. He was an ex-phalangist with a penchant for putting words in politicians mouths in describing Hizbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah as "the blood-thirsty scoundrel Hassan Nasrallah, secretary general of Hizbollah." And I would always have to go back to the reporter's notes and there would be no mention of blood-thirsting scoundrels and we would argue over it but at the end the editor has to hold the line of printing what was actually said and not what was in the imagination of the writer. "Yes, I don't care that the entire speech was a criticism of Nasrallah, the minister of [insert portfolio here] did not say those words!" Unfortunately, there is no such thing as editors at AINA, they only have spell checkers and I think they like it just fine. Hell, I would bet money on the fact that no one at AINA has ever taken a journalism class. They are far from Pulitzers and they are even further from anyone that can have any effect from adopting their interests. --------------------- |
