I fear me we`re back at saying Ashur means almost the same as Jesus." > >-Eh...the dictionary/lexicon is not enough for you? Actually, that abridged dictionary I sent you contains that word. The Chicago Assyrian Dictionary also lists it. The "u" suffix is the same as today's "a" suffix. > >Farid: >...this sounds suspiciously like it came from a Syriac manuscript. > >No, it's from Ancient Assyrian (dubbed Akkadian). Please refrain from using that word "Syriac." > >Farid: >"...who wrote this "recent history"?" > >-Why...it's right there in front of you. That's from the Qur'an. I made a mistake, it's Sureh 48:16. > >Farid: >"...still need to know the source..." > >"...same goes here." > >Again...that's the Qur'an. Yusif Ali and Pickthal are two Arabic-to-English translations. > >Farid: >"...that`s not true at all. One of my favorite books in the world is Lawrence`s own account of the war in Arabia..."The Seven Pillars Of Wisdom", which I can never tire of and have read at least 15 times...he fights what he knows are British designs all along the way...even to letting Feisal know in advance of Sykes-Picot. He is astute enough to realize quickly that the Arabs, as you would call them, are beyond "unity"..it`s all he can do to keep them for killing each other instead of fighting the Turks..and as soon as he steals a march on Allenby and takes Damascus with the Arabs...he sees them melt away into their dessert strongholds where they`d sooner kill any tribesman who wandered onto their tribal lands as think in ANY way of an "Arab" consciousness or unity". > >He was also honest enough to feel keenly that he, acting as his government`s representative, had lied to the tribesmen who were BARELY held together by Feisal`s charisma and British gold...these are NOT the makings of a national consciousness. In the end he sensed he betrayed them...but he also betrayed his own government...to his credit." > >-So then you do agree with my point. I said that he was sent on a recon mission by the British. Whether he deliberately/intentionally betrayed the Arabs is not the point. My point was that the British were using him to do their dirty work. He was, as you even stated, a representative of them. ...true. The Brits wanted to use the Arab revolt to their benefit...the Sheriff of Mecca had begun the revolt...no doubt with hints of Britiah assistance...Lawrence was sent to see which of his sons would be the best one to back...he seemed genuine in his desire to help the Arabs gain independence...he certainly went way beyond the call of duty...it was more of a personal mission... > >Farid: >"...there was a war on, if you remember...if you remember too that was a time when you Christians were EAGER for the Christian West to "save you" and give you a "homeland"...so eager, in fact, that they betrayed their neighbors, as they would again and again, and fought on the side and in the pay of the British..had the British been so foolish as to give the Christians a Christlandia...you`d all be singing Lawrence`s praises now!" > >-Again, stop lumping me together with the other people you talk to. ...well, do you or do you not want a homeland? Would you NOT have been grateful to the Brits if they`d actually followed through on their promises? And if they had,,,would you NOT be singing the praises of Lawrence...the spy who used the Arabs to get YOU Christlandia? > >Farid: >"..."US" were not in Arabia at that time...you don`t refer to the English as Europeans...not when speaking OF the English AS the English...why do you lump all Muslims under the catch-all and meaningless title of "Arabs"...the people of Iraq are NOT Arab." > >-I don't know what you're talking about. Every non-Assyrian Iraqi I've spoken to (except Kurds and Turks) called themselves Arabs. Now you and I know it's not true, but that's what they say. ...The may call themselves Arabs AFTER calling themselves Iraqis...as an Englishman might say he is European AFTER he is an Englishman. > >Farid: >"...they tricked SOME of you...there were plenty of wise Christians who warned against trusting British promises...Agha Putrous for one...but it was the Marshimun, that religion again, who wanted to believe in British promises because they fawned on him and promised him a Christlandia. And not more than a few years passed after the first betrayal, at Versailles...when the same dumb ass Christians once again believed the SAME British and joined the Levies and betrayed Iraq all over again...and AGAIN they got their tiny dicks caught in a grinder...fast forward a few decades and the children of THOSE dickheads are in America and elsewhere...yelling once AGAIN that Western Christianity will SAVE them...and if, ten years from now, Christians appear from outer space and offer to bomb the shit out of what`s left of BetNahrain and murder those "violent Muslims"...you can bet your sweet ass that the grandhcildren of today`s dumb fucks will once AGAIN cheer and stomp and hollar..and if GS ever figures where to stick his dick...and has children, THEY^LL be cheering and rooting for Martian Christians and anybody else who will kill Muslims and DESTROY the land that Jesus lost! For...if it can`t be Christian...kill it!" > >-We were all confused. Very few people took a strong stance of not wanting to help the British. ...not true...if you mean the majority of the Christians were pig ignorant...then you`re right...but Agha Potrous wasn`t "everybody"...the common folk went along with their church... And if we didn't help the British, we helped the French. Agha Putrus was helping the French if you recall - the Roman Catholic French people. Why do you think any Assyrian today who is catholic is called "Prangaya." It comes from "Franks" - the French. They screwed us real good, too. ...Christians have ALWAYS us and everyone else...no one has murdered more Christians than Christians...yet they are ever looking for other people to blame for "massacres". > >Farid: >"...I agree...for the most part. Thanks to the fucking Levies, the newly arrived Christian refugees from Iran were treated with suspicion and a generation of young Christian men were consigned to rock breaking, ditch digging and truck driving (and tire shops)...no Christian was allowed in college or in any profession...because of OUR treachery, not because of "Muslim hatred" for Christians...they took us IN...remember??!!." > >That's correct, we should not have helped them. That was our demise. > >Farid: >"...Fortunately, for all of us, eventually...my grandfather, Hakim Baba, was admired and trusted by Muslims and through contacts and influence received permission for his children to attend university...thereby producing the FIRST few doctors we had...it was the Christians AGAIN, who betrayed us all by taking their envy, as GS would if he could, to those Muslims who were NOT enamored of a Christian`s success and advancement...and told authorities my grandfather was a LIAR...that he had NEVER completed medical school..this gave the envious Muslim officials, like GS, the excuse to recind his privileges and he was told he could no longer practise medicine in Iraq..that`s right...CHRISTIANS did that...filled with envy and pettiness...as GS is. And the joy of it all was that from then on, it was a MUSLIM doctor who stuck his finger up the Christian women AND menīs BUTTS!" > >Just out of curiosity, can you please tell me where your grandfather was born and where he lived? BTW, you don't need to keep telling me how Christians screwed Christians. You act like I can't see the situation today. ...he was born in Urmia...but after fighting with Agha Potrous`s army, he and his family fled to Iraq...my father was four at the time....but he claimed to have been born in Iraq, for political reasons. Hakim Baba was sent to a hospital in Mosul where he worked round the clock...he was the ONLY Christian doctor the refugees had...at the hospital he accepted whatever people had to pay with...plus rates were fixed by the government...some years later, with ten children to support, he finally managed to open a private clinic...rather, he DARED to open a private clinic....for that`s when the Christians got out their long knives...they accused him of wanting to "make money"....they`d become accustomed to the government paying their way...or paying with stones and milk...the idea that Hakim Baba had "set himself above them" drove them to lie to the authorities, to "cut him down to size" and "keep us humble"...Like our LORD! Like I said, it backfired beautifully because from then on it was a Muslim hand that went up their Christian wives ass. You think it makes me feel good? And lastly, I don't know who GS is from your references...apprise me. ..it would be unfair of me to prejudice you...the best thing for me to do is tell you he works at a family run gas station in Los Angeles...he is a Christian...and he writes over at bethsuryoyo.com. They would love to have you over there. To me GS is as fine an example of all that is wrong with Christians claiming to be Assyrians as I`ve been fortunate to find...I use him acordingly. > > >Regards, > >Donald > > >BTW - Thanks for the pictures. ...don`t mention it. --------------------- |
