...I stumbled on this place when it was still an abandoned wreck...back in 88 as my son and I drove the Ashurbanipal up from Mexico where it had been cast in bronze. It was his turn to drive...I was slumped asleep in the front seat...he woke me as we came around a corner on 5 near...what is it, City of Commerce...or something? It was like a dream for real...the faded walls...the sprawling buildings...weeds...and ASSYRIAN bas-reliefs????

...It was such a bizarre experience...like meeting Shushan for drinks and raw meat.
