At the risk of counmtering your good efforts let me say that this isn't the first time I've been ordered to apologize "or else". I suppose it's analogous to you being asked to apologize for being who you are as a condition of someone gracing you with the benefits of their continued "friendship". I think the real issue is that Maggie needs to maintain a certain loyalty to Dadeeshoo in order to continue with her teevee program...which, undoubtedly serves a good purpose. I faced the same dilemna only in my case great monetary harm went along with demands for my "loyalty". It was very strongly hinted that I would be hurting myself and my family if I persisted in speaking and sculpting freely...I too could have opted to maintain the equally strong ties I had made within the leadershit of this community...but I couldn't. Either we strike out in an entirely new direction or it's just the same old shit in a "younger" container. It is past time to tell these leaders to fuck off...to completely fuck off ...to not compromise with ourselves because "think of the good you could do". There is no good that comes from selling yourself...none. You know that. Sure...we miss Maggie. But neither Maggie not anyone else is worth having to lobotimize ourselves in order to get along. Maggie was defending Dadeeshoo blindly out of this sense that "I must at least work within the system so I might do SOME good". It's what Dadeeshoo counts on...what Nimrod and the rest have been counting on for years and decades and centuries. ...as Ado Annie says in "Oklahoma"..."with me, it's all or nuthin...all or nuthin with me." ...she's always welcome...but demanding that I crawl to her is simply a way of giving herself an excuse to stop writing...thereby showing her loyalty to Dadeeshoo...of all people. And the odd thing is...when she moves away from Turlock...she'll no longer care about loyalty to Dadeeshoo...so that my "apology" is only necessary to maintain HER status in Turlock. At that price, it isn't even really an apology even...just my helping her maintain her teevee program. And if she should move to Modesto and get a gig with another teevee station...I will then be expected not to offend her next boss. Not my problem. --------------------- |
