Dear Ashur, This question's not so easy. Nationalism itself is a newly introduced and fluid concept developed during the 1800s. I doubt that anyone has yet fully uderstood Nationalism as of yet. My answer however involves some lateral thinking and breaking the question up into many different parts. Ethnicaly - I am a descendant of the peoples who have been known throughtout our 5,000 year-old history as Urukian, Akkadian, Chaldean, Sumerian, Babylonian, Ammorite etc. These same people went on to become the modern day Arabs and Kurds of Iraq. Religiously - I was born into the Christian religion but returned to our ancestors true religion and the worship of our god Ashur. Culturaly - I have a preference for my ancestors Assyrian culture and traditions. Identity - I have been born in Australia so I consider myself an Australian of Assyrian descent. Please try and do the same. --------------------- |
