Consider this: My first time meeting Farid was at his home in Mexico. Not to my surprise his studio was in chaos. Tools and things were left here and there. Large negative-casted pieces were placed right in the middle of the floor, begging to be tripped over or bumped into. He used natural beeswax to coat the inside of the casts, which attracted a couple dozens bee's. Not to mention the stench of the burning wax. Farid, also had this fungal infection under his thumbnail, which looked painful but he claimed it wasn't. The studio was right next to the front door which had to be 3-4 feet from the street where people walked by all day with noisy trucks, kids, bikes, advertisements, etc. How can one even think under those conditions and yet he manages to create things that make your heart stop and wonder how can one make such a beautiful rendition of his imagination and all within that hectic atmosphere. That is first hand how chaos breeds beauty and greatness. --------------------- |
