Tiglath,
I believe Farid y yo inadvertantly stayed in that zone as well when we were in Mexico City, at the hotel Firenze. It MUST have been right smack dab in the pink zone...very fun stuff.

I recommend you go to a region called POLANCO. It is where many wealthy Jews, Muslims, and Chaldeans live. It is like the nicest areas of California and/or New York. You might like it. There is a significant and well-off Chaldean population in and around Mexico City.

It's too bad you are going to Cancun...to many Khwarrih there, but have a good time nonetheless! I'm sure the rest of your trip will be authentic.

Needless to say it’s very entertaining and a lot of fun. I have to always be on alert to wear my wedding band as a Spanish boy called Huleo keep hitting on me.

This was the place (over 50 years ago now) where legendary Fidel Castro and Che Guevara first met in 1955, planning their revolutionary tactics for Cuba, forming the 26th of July movement. Later Che Guevara became Castro's chief lieutenant soon after the rebel invasion of Cuba in 1956, in which he proved to be a resourceful guerrilla leader. The café was magnificent with pictures of Havana hanging on the wall and 1950s type decorations.

Rumour has it that they had to replace the entire white sound by shipping in sand from the Sahara after Hurricane Katrina washed away the sand that was originally there.
