Reminds me of the time when as a little boy I asked my mother why everyone wore gold chains and necklaces of Jesus and the Virgin Mary (in Iran) when Christianity was about values and simplicity, not wealth and idols? She merely shrugged and said something like, "It's okay if the gold is made to represent Jesus, etc..."
I had yet to learn about the Vatican and the Catholic church in general and all their pomp and wealth, their hypocrisy and loot.
Don't know about you but I'm leaning very much toward Buddhism and meditation based on compassion, simplicity, equality, etc.
I turn away from the church and begin my journey toward the temple.
