Mr. Parhad why there's the name of Fred Aprim under sincerely??? and not Farid or Frederick Parhad ??? I didn't know that Fred Aprim is a sculptor? With all due respect to Mr. Mattar and all those in the Middle East who recognize themselves as Arab Christians,but Mr. Mattar belongs to a faction of the Lebanese population that supports his idea while other Christian factions don't see themselves as Arab Christians at all. Thus Mr. Mattar's view is but one of many and if he has supporters such as yourself who don't even know whom they are,then there are many others who don't recognize the Arab identity and that's their right as well. As for the contributions of the Arabs in the medieval times,let's not forget that when the Arab tribes invaded Mesopotamia,they had nothing but the few bedouin poems which they used to recite and those who paved the way to them to learn and have much later on scholars and scientists were the non-Arabs ,the inhabitants of Mesopotamia that is the Assyrian Christians,as well as some Christians who belonged to tribes which had converted to Christianity such as al-Ghassasina and al-Manatheera amongst others.Thus if at the time there were Arabs who converted to Christianity but there were also non-Arabs who were in their homeland and who were Christians like the Assyrians. For the longest time and till today the contributions of those non-Arabs,non-Muslims to what became known as the "Arab" or "Muslim" civilization were obscured and as such there are generations in the Middle East who know nothing about those contributions which started and made up what the Arabs built upon because they learned from the experiences of those who preceded them. --------------------- |
