...we're beginning to look more and more like our purported enemies. What's the difference between a fatwah issued by a Muslim or Christian Mullah? Exactly...nothing. ...Christianity is very like the drug thalidomide which, in the 60's, was responsible for horrible deformities in the infants. Women were encouraged to take the drug because it relieved their pain during pregnancy...when a good horsewhipping administered to their husbands would have been far more effective. ...the drug was eventually pulled, even though it gave relief to the overwhelming majority of pregnant women and caused problems in very few cases....still, the risk was deemed unacceptable and women were told to bear the pain, if nothing else worked. ...Christianity works the same way...only the very few who "get it right" are even fewer than the number of deformed babies born under the influence of thalidomide. In the case of Christianity the overwhelming evidence of the harm it does to screws-loose people is overlooked and the odd person here and there...who would have been good INSPITE of any religion, is pointed to as proof of its success...while increasing millions of people get it murderously wrong. If Christianity was recognized as the drug it is, it would have been pulled from shelves long ago and the pope imprisoned for eternity. --------------------- |
