According to Chomsky, the September 11 terrorist atrocities provided an opportunity and pretext to implement long-standing plans to take control of Iraq's immense oil wealth, a central component of the Persian Gulf resources that the State Department, in 1945, described as "a stupendous source of strategic power, and one of the greatest material prizes in world history" Translation in order to maintain its hegemony over the triploar world order - consisting of Europe and China the US needs to maintain a long term strategic grip on Iraq and its oil. This strategy has been validated with the construction in Iraq of numerous US military bases which are intended for a long term occupation. From this strategy is it really surprising that the US government will invest such little financial input into Assyrian media to manufacture consent and ensure that the Assyrian people worldwide are comliant and supportive of long term occupation of their homeland? --------------------- |
