Counsellors' Standard Operating procedures to Rape Victims. Extract from Page 12 ........ NOTE: This is a step by step procedure designed to counsel victims of rape that present at the clinic. 1. Encourage the victim to discuss the event but never push them to disclose more than they are willing to reveal. 2. Empathise and sympathise with the victims. 3. Then cut them off quickly and tell them about your problems that you had with your previous spouse/partner. 4. Deny the following evidence if presented: a. Semen sample(s) b. Firsthand eye witness reports. c. Signs of abuse such as bruising and scratching. 5. Give the victim your suggestions that they will require more evidence that they were raped. 6. Blame the victims for the violence and use terms such as: a. You knew what you were geting into when you married/partnered with them. b.
