passing rant

both of my douche bag bosses are loaded. this has nothing to do with them being douche bags really but once in a while they glance over at my computer screen, see me reading up on student loans and lose their constant and throbbing rich dude erections for brief qualms of guilt over firing me, poor little poor girl suzette. it makes us all uncomfortable because i now know there is no longer any conceivable universe that could keep me here. i'm only sticking around for my two weeks in the hopes of receiving a passable reference. i don't want any of their hot man love charity. however i can't tell them this without insulting them.

it's like one of those relationships where you don't love your boyfriend but you can tell he can't conceive of a universe where you wouldn't love him and he stews over how badly he feels about not loving you. and you know if you tell him it's ok so as to relieve his furrowed brow he'll break up the mutually beneficial thing you have going on the sheer principle (because he thinks he believes in true love) (yeah right. and he /really/ likes reggae too). this leads to staggered conversations in the car where he's driving and your fingers are pressed on the window insulation:

him - "...y'know ..."
you - "HEY! LOOK AT THAT BIG GORILLA BALLOON!"

maybe a little less dramatic than that.
so the new trinity of sensitive rich douche bags with rich douche bag parents are all addicted to freaking out over how crazy our customers are/how crazy their lives are (not even remotely difficult). 50% of the time they walk into the office they have a bag of something newly purchased and utterly useless (sharp contrast with my habit of eating slices of bread for a meal). i've been working with people from West Bloomfield/Warren for nearly a year now and have been made highly aware on a near constant basis of the drastic difference between our budgeting practices. it never really annoyed me until they did me wrong (fired me). maybe it's a case of hanging out with the shitty kid and saying / "Well he's never done anything to me personally..."/
i guess it's just that and at all the private school i went to when i was younger (where i was also the poorest kid in class)... the less-than-great (who needs science! let's square dance!) educations that HR and i never even asked for but which are still thrown up every time we hint at getting a little help with paying rent/college bills:

them: "...after all we sent both of you girls to private school."
me: EXPLODE THE ROOM WITH MIND POWERS (not really)

so i guess i freaked out a little yesterday when a friend referred to me as privileged. it turns out the word "privileged" is my slur name. in my mind anyway. well. that's good to know about myself.

the only thing the dbags and i have in common is that in 6 working days we will all be pleased to no longer have to associate with one another as our drastic social differences create icky feelings within all of us. also, 6 business days until i start a drastic [my boss's name soon to appear here] smear campaign. sensitive male hard-ons are still hard-ons.
