..first off get over the idea that Love and Kindness and Self-Sacrifice were invented by Christ...hardly. To claim to be Assyrian and from a much older culture than those hairy Hebrews and yet to insist that Jesus brought Love and Kindness into the world is to add insult to injury against our ancestors. Rather one needs to keep focused on only those things that make Christianity what it is. You can be the kindest sweetest person in the world but without you eat the body and drink the blood and agree that Jesus was killed for YOU...you aren`t considered Christian and ain`t going to heaven...which is the other part of being Christian: You believe in a heaven and believe you get to go there when you die IF you go through the exclusive and peculiar acts the Church considers de riguer. Having said that and pointing out once again the bizarre and unexplainable circumstances that attracted the Roman Empire to Christianity, you next realize that had it NOT been for the Romans, Christianity would never have gotten west of Lebanon...but remained the minor inconvenience it has been in the MidEast since whenever. The Romans it was who took Jesus with them along their roads to the countries they conquered. Since plenty of Jews right there alongside Jesus refused to buy into Christianity, we have to admit that it`s "universality" is hardly a proven fact. Sure, you can call all those who refused it from the start of being degenrates, Evil and worthy of Auschwitz which, come to think of it, is exactly what happened..that is, the Romans, who killed Jesus, blamed the Jews for it and they and their descendants across Europe, where the Empire once ruled, carried on just such a vendetta until Hitler did them proud. We have only the Pope`s word for how this religion was "spread". According to the official version, several mendicant friars and lone monks wandered across the landsacpe confronting settled Peoples with the iniquity of their own ancestral ways and by dangling a dead Christ before them, got millions of them to dump their own ways and make the switch. The only trouble with that version of things is that it doesn`t square very well with later times when we have independent records and eyewitness accounts of how people were REALLY converted to Christianity...such as in Africa and the New World. They were murdered, tortured, raped but mostly their children were taken from them and "raised" Christian. You can see it in Mexico today as well as among Blacks in America...these people fervently worship the god of those who murdered their parents and dragged them to slavery...raped and bred them like cattle and sold the resulting children into Christian slavery. But STILL they "believe". The other fly in the ointment is the Protestant Reformation and the resulting Restoration...a period of unbridled cruelty such as no savage ever dreamed of, inflicted on each other by two sides, each professing to love Jesus to death and playing it out on each others children and mothers...a truly horrendous time and example of a side of Christianity all Christians would sooner forget...if they ever heard of it. Given these more recent and well documented instances of Christian barbarity in the service of their "Prince of Peace" one has a difficult time believing wholeheartedly the claims of miraculous conversions to Christianity the Church has written up in all those manuscripts that have made the grairs and so many others dotty with foolishness. It just doesn`t stand to reason, which is the reason the Church hates Reason..that when NO ONE was looking, the church and its evangelical sons of bitches were ever so nice and kind and used no force whatsoever...but when the whole world was watching they went ahead and ran the earth red with Christian blood..never mind Heathens and hold-outs. There isn`t anyting kind or loving about Christianity...rather it is an empire...a conglomerate...a corporate entity that has been using Jesus since it killed him, almost, to continue and expand the franchise. And the grairs are only two jackasses in the choir. --------------------- |
