...over at aina, if you read all the posts this morning...you`ll see that this "we are Assyrian" business is entirely a creation of churches. If for no other reeason, NO ONE is going to give LAND to a religious sect. Certainly no Muslim will ever do such a thing for a Christian sect.

...Religion is just religion...at least after you`ve given up your original one...after that you can switch and switch and switch again...going for whatever goodies the next one has to offer. The people of BetNahrain switched to Chritianity AND Islam and probably several other religions. ALL the people of that region are descendants of the great civilizations of BetNahrain...all of them admit it....but the Christians, having nothing to brag of except going barefoot here and there and "preaching", which is code for being royal pains in the arse...are justifiably embarrassed at what little they managed to achieve once they converted to a religion of conquered people and slaves....whereas the Muslim Assyrians carried on that proud tradition of the ancient lands of BetNahrain by building yet another great civilization, that Great Islamic Empire that was the most advanced of its day. Christians are pissed and envious (as they STILL are) so they refuse to accept the Islamic Empire as anything but "Arab"...as if the Arabs had the culture to create such an empire.

The boys are doomed. And it`s a good thing too. The Heritage of BetNahrain will do much better without them...for they are determined to destroy it all if their Jesus doesn`t come out on top..or get some corner oil well at least.
