...one of the many things the boys don`t get is how you analyze something. To them, you merely repeat what you were taught...or have come to believe. You never ever look for, or remember, or credit anything that flies in the face of your pet beliefs. That`s the sort of "research" Aprim does....he hunts and hunts for any factoid that proves him right, overlooking the mountains of evidence that show him to be way wrong...and he calls that "researching my books".

When you anaylze things you tear them apart, take them down to their components and then you examine each and every particle to verify, modify or reject it...then you build the thing back up...having examined each of its parts minutely...sort of like you analyze compounds in the lab...you want to know what the essential elements of your "big thing" are...you don`t simply spit it up to swallow whole again.

For instance, take this "Arabizing" notion. What is so odd about a country made of diverse parts trying to forge a national, homogenous, identity? Isn`t America famous for its Melting Pot? Hasn`t the US Senate just declared English to be the official language of the United States? Don`t school boards want to stop teaching English, in Spanish? Aren`t we pushing for immigrants, newly arrived mind you, to learn English? Didn`t California pass a law a few years back saying that only English was to be spoken in the workplace? Is anyone howling about being "Americanized"? Has anyone called to the wurld that they are being ethnically cleansed of their language and heritage etc?

What is so odd about Iraq wanting to forge a national identity...with one language? If you say that Iraq forces you to name your kid Ali instead of Yousip or Youkhanna....then why does Portugal, a Christian country, also restrict the names parents can give their children?

And if it`s true that a gun is held to your head in Iraq to force you to "Islamicize" your kid by naming him Mustapha...what`s the excuse for Chaldean parents in Detroit, a nominally free city in a free state in a free country, calling their kid Jennifer...or Sean, when NO ONE held a gun to their head or heads? You can understand and forgive the person being compelled...but what have you to say about the person who willingly and with no coercion picks "Scott" as a name for a Chaldean kid...is that NOT being Americanized?

It isn`t the principle of thing with us, it never is. We don`t understand principles...that`s because we`re traitors to our religion and culture and PROWD to be. We only understand what is opportune...what gets us a goodie or an advantage...hence our "love" of Christ, because he`ll give us heaven on a cracker whereas Ashur never promised any such thing...The principle of remaining true to your Heritage, even to choosing appropriate names, isn`t the issue with us...we WANT to be a Jennifer because to be Jennifer is to be Christian AND Western...whereas to be Mustapha OR Yousip, is MidEastern...we crave Americanization but shun Arabization....

The same goes for this "we are Assyrian because we are Christian" nonsense...it makes absolutely no sense...hence every Christian WANTS to have faith in it. It makes perfect sense that ancient Assyrians survived..it also makes sense that they adopted different Jew-based religions...for by that time they too were demoralized. It also makes sense that the Islamic Empire was another manifestation of an empire of BetNahrain...that as Sargon and Hammurabbi came from the desert with their tribes and religions and youthful energy to conquer and settle and blend in, so too did the Arab armies come, to conquer and then BE conquered in turn by those they conquered.

It also makes sense that Christians resent like hell the success in THIS world, of Muslims...or anyone else. At heart they resent the fact that they must wait for another life, lived on a cloud, to get their due.

Nothing in the "Assyrianism" business makes any sense whatsoever, except that they are losing ground...as they are bound to do. There are no "enemies"...there are only themselves...free, in the West, to do whatever they please and only managing to shoot each other in the head and themselves in the foot...as they are logically bound to do, given the amount of nonsense they carry within...nonsense they claimed they could never express freely in Betnahrain because they were OPPRESSED...well, now they can express it...and look at them.
