Yeah, I feel pretty fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in Iran. It's always afforded me a kind of a near distant counterbalance in trying to sculpt myself throughout my life. My time in Iran, my first ten years of life, has always been like a second mother, a cistern of experience, memories, and dare I say it? Wisdom. I miss Iran. I have often heard family lament the loss of flavor in transition to the States. There must be something specific about the soil in the East. I have always envied the Greek, in particular. They have settled here in the States without incident AND have the luxury of returning at will to their beloved and beautiful homeland, every summer if they wish! Why not us? Why have the bridges to our pasts and origins been long laden with pitfalls and proverbial instability? Maggie, enjoy your Gemar. (What is it, anyway?) --------------------- |
