...you`re a bright, educated woman. You and I were both raised on the same stories about us being direct descendants of the Assyrians...but the beginning of true knowledge is DOUBT and not mere acceptance. Cannibal children, most likely, received all sorts of advice and admonition about how to properly eat the fingers of cousin Bill...their parents, we can be sure, told them that cannibalism is the best way, the only way..that if it wasn`t meant to be that way, their god would never have allowed it...but fer hevvin´s sakes, woman, you have to QUESTION the basic assumptions drilled into you when you are young and defenseless and don`t know any better.

Based on these fairy tales, none of them with a shred of evidence, you still talk about "safe havens" for "your people". Does it not strike you that the very need of a safe place, in the midst of an UNSAFE place, is not safe and never will be? Would any Jew, NOT compelled by Nazi Christian brutality, have EVER wanted a "safe haven" in the midst of madder than hell Muslims?

If it is likely that Assyrians converted to Christianity, why can`t you educated people accept that they also converted to Islam? If the Christian converts could then go on to "convert" to yet other variations of Christianity..why would Assyrians not have converted to Islam? If the conversion itch got to them...why only convert to Christianity? Do you see any signs that anything typically Assyrian survived once they converted to Christ? Why this insistence that Christians and only Christians can be Assyrians? Why?

Christian Assyrians HAVE a homeland..if they`ll act the part. It is called Iraq. There are thousands and there were hundreds of thousands of Christians living peacefully in Iraq...and there were those who insisted on preaching sedition..who got JUST what they deserved...why are you building a mountain of these piss pots?

What religious group or minority has NOT suffered in the country it inhabited? Why is the Christian experience so supposedly noteworthy? Do you really think the wurld must "wake up and take notice"? Of what? One more injustice in the face of zillions...one more injustice occuring at the same time that horrendous injustices are being perpetuated in Iraq by the SAME criminals you think will take a liking to you and be outraged by your "suffering"?

You must read more than Syriac manuscripts, surely. Why this constant regurgitation of past wounds...why this intellectual squatting in the marketplace to pick at your scabs in hopes of arousing pity in passersby? And why deliberately cripple your healthy young ones so they too will squat beside you and beg alms? I would venture to say that your son is not proud of being Assyrian....I have a nephew who is half Jewish and identifies himself as only Jewish...never accepting that there is any Assyrian to him. To his question of "where are your great thinkers, philosphers, artists, inventors, musicians, composers, psychoanalysts, stage directors, film producers, college professors, deans of univesities, presidents of colleges, directors of hospitals..where are your museums, your philanthropic gifts, your medical centers, your universities"...what can I say except that we have "suffered"? But who has suffered MORE than the Jews...who has been torn from their families, their treasures, their homes and countries more than the Jews..who has been despised, by half the world, more than the Jews...who did Christians try to wipe off the face of the earth but Jews...and yet with all of that...who remained TRUE to their ancient god and ways?

Maybe your son was treated rather badly by schoolyard bullies when he was six or seven..but surely you don`t allow him to use that incident, to "never forget", as a reason not to ever go out of the house again? Can we never put this foolishness aside and try to take a rightful place alongside other civilized people and begin to BUILD a culture again? Must we be encouraged, even by you, to harp after our "sufferings" and try to use those to pry some special treatment out of a most unwilling wurld?

And what in the name of all that is holy, clean and decent are you doing praising Aprim as a WRITER? Are you daft or just desperate? Be careful...this stuff will make you crazy too. Drop it as soon as you can...repeat, for the LAST time, all that you have "suffered"...tell again, for the final time, all that is OWED to you..and then let it GO! It begins to smack of serious derangement and personality disorder....make a life NOW...encourage "Assyrians", to set aside their ever growing list of demandses and begin trying to DESERVE something...which includes that putz Aprim...tell him to do what you and your husband do when you write a "book"...submit the manuscript to a serious editor of a serious publisher and NOT your neighbor!

That would be a start.
