...the word has Latin roots which roughly translate as, "to bring out"....to bring OUT what is in a person. Each of us is born unique and therefore a threat...a threat to parents first of all...then to priests and teachers, kings and presidents. Each of us has, at birth, a bit of stardust you can call your "essential self"...soul is an overworked and by now meaningless term.

Your essential self is NOT what schools or society want to know about...your essential self is what you are BEFORE the voodoo priest in Haiti gets a hold of you..or the Mullah in Marakesh..or the priest in Chicago...it`s what exists in the universe before it finds a body to bring it down to earth...the real task of an education is to find outlets for that self...to nurture it, protect it, protect it above ALL...that is what education means..or should mean.

Instead we`ve made of it something you stuff into heads...you grab a kids ears, like the hind legs on a plucked turkey and you spread them WIDE and pour your favorite stuffings in until the poor dead bird can hold no more...then you give it a "degree" and devour it.

Society, Tradition...wants your other self...not your ESSENTIAL self..they want that part of you that can be moulded..no matter where or when or to whom you`re born..they are interested in that part of you they can put to THEIR use.

Education should find YOU...not try to dress you in borrowed rags...it should not consist of sinking your delicate self in a sea of traditions and tabus and dos and donts...it should be geared to YOU and not the needs of society.

But more than anything it should prepare you to walk in another person`s shoes...to see the world through the eyes of the people surrounding you...even unto the ends of the earth...else what good is it? And that`s just where religious "education" fails the individual, while it succeeds marvellously well for the Police State. You become more and more immersed in YOUR tribe`s ways...you increasingly see yourself and YOUR tribe as the correct ones..and all else as badly misguided...and then a "threat".

If you can`t see someone else`s compelling reasons...then they can`t see your`s and we`re looking at Armageddon..when Jesus comes back, not as Jesus at all, but rather as the representative of the people who murdered Jesus and then used his corpse to increase their stranglehold on others...Jesus comes back on a white horse..leading armies..and the mountains and valleys will run with BLOOD...this is Jesus the Roman Emperor...it is NOT Jesus..it is Caliigula...at worst...at best, it is Julius Caesar...it ain`t Jesus.

...go...and find your essential selves.
