...rereading his third volume, "The Age of Faith", I came across a passage which stated that Monophysite sects in the East opened their arms and city gates to Islam, because only the Muslims tolerated their views while Orthodox Christianity killed them all. Like I said, our boys should be greatful to Islam for it saved their pissant sect where formal Christianity would have killed them all.

...also the Nestorian monks who went to China went there by imperial permission of the Byzantine Emperor...and they went to bring back the silk worm and mullberry seed...it was a commercial enterprise in other words...the silk industry grew to become extremely lucrative.
