...that hurricane Katrina was a natural GOD-MADE disaster and it's absurd to blame the federal government under the mismanagement of the neo-cons for the devastating effects...that there was NOTHINg anyone could have done...and oh yes..."this is a LIBERAL smear"!!! ...then we see this: Last month at a Senate hearing, Marty Bahamonde, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's only employee in New Orleans when Katrina struck Aug. 29, said he e-mailed Brown on Aug. 31, "Sir, I know that you know the situation is past critical ... many will die." Brown replied, "Thanks for the update. Anything specific I need to do or tweak?" ...I have no doubt Bush is deliberately choosing the WORST people to fill as many posts as he can...except where monetary policy might be concerned...but if the neo-cons can show us that "government is the problem"...and therefore that BIG government is a BIGGER problem...they will diminish the effectiveness of the Federal government...which is really the only "government" they find bad...and that's because the Federal government and our Constitution has TRUMPED them on slavery, Jim Crow, desegregated housing and schools and transportation...equal pay, equal protection etc. They have nothing against a big STATE government interfering in your lives and telling you what to do and TAXING the shit out of you..and that's because they feel they can count on red-neck states NOT to turn blue... ...so...bringing it back to Katrina...I guess this kind of head for FEMA was EXACTLY the "best" choice...and his fumbling of the relief effort was a blow for State's Rights...unless asshole neo-cons are ALSO a god-given natural disaster??? --------------------- |
