...this is not a difficult scenario to imagine: A Christian Iraqi child needs to be brought to the United States for an operation...she has a life-threatening disease that, if not handled peoperly and promptly will result in her death within weeks...appeals are being made to everyone to help save the child...Aprim and grairs have each given $5.00 and haven't stopped bragging...yet time is running out and if another $5,000 isn't raised soon it will be one more dead Christian child...Narsai is working the phones...he's calling on all his old friends and contacts but things are tight...money is not that easy to come by so fast.

Then the Devil steps up the plate and says, "...seems Christians are hard to come by these days...I'll make up the difference". Narsai, who's been in business for a long time and met the Devil many times, thanks the nasty bastard and calls the Bored of the AIDS people with the good news...aghast that he would even think to accept the Devil's help they vote against the funds and three weeks later the child dies.

The AIDS people then hold a wake, a vigil and a martyrfest all rolled in one...at the function speaker after speaker honors the dead child and details the immense effort the AIDS people made to save her...they recount the number of phone calls, the hours of volunteer work, the TV shows missed and each rededicates him and herself to serve the Christians of Iraq.

And over in the corner the Devil congratulates himself for picking up a few more souls..."these people are so damn easy", he sighs, "whenever I come short I go straight to Assyria and the damfools all but leap into my arms".

moral: It's good to be good at what you do...that goes for Assyrians as well as the Devil.

Somewhere in all of this, another life was lost.
