Peter asked us all to email the guy....

Dear Sir,

I was struck by your article...by the grace and clarity with which you presented your views. I was born in Iraq and told all my life that i am a driect descendant of the Assyrians...that we were all Christians and could only BE Christian. I always found that to be a mornic point of view, something confirmed daily by the sorts of Christians we are surrounded by who believe this nonsense and use their beliefs as underhanded means to create a Christian enclave in Iraq.

In truth I don't know WHAT I am. I have no difficulty in being Arab or Chinese. I don't know if your version is the more correct one. i DO know that I was born in Iraq and am proud of it. I also know that it is Christians who've been visiting misery on that land for centuries, up to the present day.

I am a sculptor who created the first Assyrian Monument anywhere in the world in the last 2500 years...it is of the Assyrian King Ashurbanipal and is located in Civic Center, United Nations Plaza, in San Francisco. I regard all the people of Iraq and the region as well to be descended from ALL the glorious people of the Cradle of Civilization, which includes, of course, the Muslim descendants as well who created the greatest civilization of the Medieval Age, centered in my hometown.

It is not Islam that has devastated that region but Christianity, more specifically, western Christianity, which has found willing dupes and fools in the MidEast to use and manipulate at will.

Peace will not begin to be possible in that region until Christians reaffirm their loyalty to their nations and NOT their religious hetmen...and give up the idea of creating a Christlandia.
