Efforts to ban gays and lesbians from adopting children are emerging across the USA as a second front in the culture wars that began during the 2004 elections over same-sex marriage.

Steps to pass laws or secure November ballot initiatives are underway in at least 16 states, adoption, gay rights and conservative groups say. Some - such as Ohio, Georgia and Kentucky - approved constitutional amendments in 2004 banning gay marriage. (Related story: Both sides cite concern for children)

...this is the real reason there is a "war on terrorism"...there is no other way to get people fearful enough they`ll allow the US Constitution to be modified to the point where it can be further discredited as the reason the "devil is on the loose".

..the South has never fofgotten or forgiven intervention by the Federal Government both to end slavery, through the Civil War..and then to end segregation...which never would have happened had not Federal Laws trumped "State`s Rights".

...only by making a FEMA-style mess out of the Federal government can neo-cons hope to revive the idea that States should rule themselves as they best see fit, without the "interference" of that pesky old Federal Constitution.

...of course neo-cons could give a shit about a fetus...a woman`s right to anything...or freedom, equality and justice under the law for ALL Americans...as the Federal Constitution allows...where it doesn`t come out and mandate. What they want is the power to impose their boys on the rest of us...to gut the EPA and any number of regulations that stop them from ruining our air and water on their way to make all the moeny they can..so they can raise your dinghy while their yahcts get bigger and bigger...to do this they need a solid voting block behind and so far the most dependable and solid and rock-headed voters are the neo-Christians...and so you have this push to protect children from Queer parents...nothing more than a sop to the radical extreme hate-mongering Christians who`ll vote these assholes into office gladly...because they are all "moral".
