...someone who rapes you 20 times in one night and the one who only rapes you twice? Eighteen rapes. They're both cut from the same cloth...the frequency or duration of torture hardly makes one rapist more innocent. This is a paragraph from an article in Zindalite condemming Syria for imprisoning a Christian...once again you can see that any Muslim "crime" against a Christian is a terrible thing...to Christians...but the same crime against Muslims by Christians is the right thing to do...or at the least must be excused because Christian authorities are thought to be in the right. ..."From one repressive regime to another, the current situation of ethnoreligious minorities in Syria depicts a faint picture of the appalling and austere treatment of the Syrian detainees. Mr. Yacoub Hanna Shamoun, an Assyrian Christian from Syria has been detained without due process for over twenty years in Syria's horrendous AlSaydnaia prison. He has repeatedly been denied access to a legal representative and has been kept in isolation from his family, the legal system and human rights institutions." There are countless Christian men and women detained for more than twenty years and even executed, in America who were denied competant legal representation. So what? The United States spirits people away to secret prisons in other countries where they can be tortured with a clear conscience...people who never know why they're arrested, who aren't charged... who are denied access to their families and lawyers...who remain imprisoned at the whim of Christians. This business about excusing our own crimes and only focusing on those of other people has to stop or these wars will escalate...this is a dangerous bit of self-righteousness that blinds people to their own acts of provocation that bring about retaliation...often justified retaliation. Our shit stinks too. --------------------- |
