...he`s cuddly. He`s cute, in sort of a moth-eaten teddy bear way...he`s harmless...he means well and he makes such a good foil. He said once that there were no Assyrians in Baghdad, that they were all in the north where it was "safe". Then they started dying in Mosul and things weren`t so simple...Firas had to either rethink or reblink. And then, out of nowhere, we found out there were indeed Assyrians in Baghdad...Firas admitted it when some churches were blown up...revealing that there had been Assyrians there all along...but this was a godsend because we had more victims and martyrs and you can never have too many of those.

Next Firas said that democracy in Iraq would be a great thing for a Christian minority...especially after they went to work for the invading Christian armies...then that turned out not to be so true...but here again, god was good to us because several interpreters were shot to death and we had MORE martyrs...things were beginning to look up.

We said any kind of attack against Iraq would be bad for everyone...that if we were concerned that Assyrians were leaving because Saddam was nasty...even more would leave because Bush is ten times nastier...and now it`s happening....

Violence Uproots 100,000 Iraq Families By ROBERT H. REID, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Sectarian violence has forced about 100,000 families across Iraq to flee their homes, a top Iraqi official said. At least 17 people, including an American soldier, were killed Saturday in fighting.

Knowing Firas well, I`m sure he`ll contend that there aren`t any Assyrians among these families...until the United Nations tells him differently..but even that can be put to work....people will surely feel sorry for us if they know we`re leaving in droves.

Firas is cute...he`s harmless...he`s clueless...but he has a lot of faith.
