That our nationalists do not believe in reading books, and I mean those on historical or scholarly levels, should be no surprise, but that isn't their only proble. What they have is their opinions, hysteria and stories that were told to them as children by their priests, familes and their "teachers". None of the claims made by these nationalists are provable and historians would have long backed their claims up. But the evidence does not support their opinions, prejudices and claims, therefore, it is only natural that those historians will be called all kinds of names since they are not saying it how they would like it to be. Just one quick example is our very own Dr John Joseph. The brother was raised with the same teachings and believed everything. One day he decided to get educated, he became a historian and he is our only historian of our history. After doing all the research, and being a historian he must put aside his prejudices, he cameto realize that what he and all of us were taught while growing up was false.

They still argue on their forums, and one can talk to any of those who are fanatics in their "Assyrian Nationalism", and they'll make claims that they were persecuted for their religion, their Assyrian ethnicity and that they were forced to convert. According to historians, who are qualified in our region, the survival of the Nestorians, Jacobites, Menophysites and other sects who were viewed as heretics is all due to Muslims. There is no historical evidence that Islam was forced on them or that they were ever killed just because of their religion or ethnicity. While their lives differed under the various caliphs, and as caliphs they are only humans and not perfect, the treatment of non-Muslims was still decent and not comparable to how the Christians treated each other or others. I'll post just one quote from the prominent historian and a one time Christian missionary who spent over 25 years in India and wrote a few books about Islam and its history, teachings, faith, and spread.

Thomas Arnold states in his book

Of any organized attempt to force the acceptance of Islam on the non-Muslim population, or of any systematic persecution intended to stamp out the Christian religion, we hear nothing. Had the Caliphs chosen to adopt either course of action, they might have swept away Christianity as easily as Ferdinand and Isabella drove Islam out of Spain, or Louis XIV made Protestantism penal in France, or the Jews were kept out of England for 350 years. The Eastern Churches in Asia were entirely cut off from communion with the rest of Christendom throughout which no one would have been found to lift a finger on their behalf, as heretical communions. So that the very survival of these churches to the present day is a strong proof of the generally tolerant attitude of the [Mohammedan] governments towards them”*

This is only one of the many historians that testify to this. It isn't my opinion nor can he be accused of prejudices since he was Christian, a missionary and a well qualified historian. So, we are not supposed to learn from history, schools and books but instead we have to listen to our priests, parents or accept the stories told by self proclaimed historians such as Fred Aprim and the rest of them. I can never do such a thing because I like to learn and I like to learn what is true and what is not. i had to learn to put aside my prejudices and say good by to those that I thought were "historians" but later came to learn that they were either engineers who are not employed in their fields or real estate agents and sometimes even janitors or liquor store owners, but one thing is certain and that is that not one of them is a historian. They could never become historians because not only does it require a lot of schooling and reading, but one has to be patient and be willing to put aside their hatred. Can one imagine these nationalists going to a top university, receiving a Phd from it and major in history?

They would drop out the minute they would hear something contrary to what Qasha Potros, aunty Surma, Sargon Dadeesho and any other of their "maplanas" had told them. Since those can not be wrong, the historians are all working against them because of jealousy. We see documentaries on other peoples all over. We read about the ancient world in the National Geographics magazine, History Channel, news papers, and all sorts of different sources which are in business for this kind of stuff, yet we hear nothing about the direct descendants of Sargon being right here with us walking the streets among us. Everyone would be there covering them but the professional world knows that it's nothing more than a hoax and would never waste time with such a joke. They know that "Assyrian" today is not used as it was used 3,000 years ago and that today's Christians of Iraq who use this name are using it as a religious name rather than an ethnic name.

They are nothing more than a group of Syriac speaking Christians, who are divided in many hostile denominations, and decided to fool a few people by using the name of the ancient Assyrians as a means to get something. Just as with all Christians, one is called an "anti-Christ" for even questioning their teachings, the same goes with these nationalists and their bogus claims that those who question, expose or challenge them are "anti-Assyrian" or trying to prevent them from uniting. One absurd article I was reading went as far as claiming that the modern "Assyrians" are the most united people on earth and they share one language, heritage and religion. It was of course another one of those "what we demand" articles but the author didn't mention that they can't throw a picnic without fighting and that they have seperate picnics just among those COE who are split over the X-mas celebration. In what way are they the most united and why is everyone so jealous of them or trying to stop them from becoming one? One jack ass was even telling me that right now the world has put us in a grabage bin and put a cover on us with bearly enough room to breath. According to this paranoid individual, the world knows about us and is afraid of us and they are trying to keep us silent and asleep.

As if they pose such a danger or they are that important, the entire world must be so against them, but I guess it makes them feel good believing that. it's also a good way to justify their failures to their "nation" since they'll never do any real research it won't matter what excuse they give them. They'll appear like champions, heroes and warriors on their forums. They'll continue writing articles and self published "books" which they'll quote to their ignorant audience as "proof" and then tell the 2 or 3 who have some brain that they need to "researcH" and then talk. If their champions find themselves in trouble, or are about to hang themselves, the webmaster, who is their saviour, will delete, ban and protect them.
