...how religion fucks you up.

It's not too surprising that Blacks, brainwashed early that Christianity is "their" religion, voted in large numbers to extend discrimination against Gay people, even other Blacks. They cited their religious beliefs...forgetting that that same bible was used to justify slavery and Jim Crow and the KKK....which were also popular with "the people".

You'd think they would have learned something from their own experience. Slavery too was popular...and if the will of the people, of the South, had any relevence, they would have remained slaves. Even segregation and Jim Crow laws would not have been repealed had it not been for the Courts and the Constitution upholding the basic rights of ALL citizens to equality under the law, no matter what the majority wanted.

For Afro-Americans to use their church, religion, or the "will of the people" as a basis for denying equal rights to Gay people is unconscionable....it's rotten and hypocritical too. They were all for the Courts denying "popular will" in favor of equal rights under the Constitution for Afro-Americans...but not for Gays. It seems some people "deserve" to be discriminated against.

"it's wrong to discriminate against us", they said, "but it's morally right to discriminate against Gay people...even if many are Blacks, like us".

On top of that many minorities are fooled into thinking they've finally arrived...that they can join the country club and go in the front door....so eager are they to believe that color no longer matters that they rush to join the Republican Party and, in the case of homosexuals...now THEY get to discriminate too!!! But their cause is "holy" and "hallowed" and even "legal".

Shame on them. It's understandable given the mind-fuck that Christianity is...but it's no less tragic and revealing and bigoted.
