Just found out Robert was convicted of four out five charges....trial lasted three weeks and jury took eight hours to convict...so many people showed for the trial that a separate room was set aside with sound to accommodate family and friends. Sentencing should come soon...one of the translators in the case is already serving six months...I imagine Robert will get more time, but at least it won't be maximum security.

A shame really....I find it hard to believe he did it for the money because he could earn money any number of legal ways...I have to believe he sincerely wanted to get Assyrians into the country, which is commendable. Perhaps without the lies and perjury there could have been another way....

I can easily forgive his lying to get people in...but not his slandering of Iraqi Muslims in order to gin up sympathy and pity...we do too much of that, too much of making ourselves abject objects of pity....like our only hope is in getting people to feel sorry for us.
