In Anthony Pagden’s book “Worlds at War”, the 2,500 year struggle between East and West, we find in the preface the following;

“Between 1894 and 1896, Ottoman troops had systematically destroyed and looted Armenian villages, killing, by most accounts, as many as two hundred thousand people...the Armenians had been killed largely because they had been looked upon with suspicion as a Christian fifth column, plotting with the enemies of the Ottoman Empire to create a separate homeland. At the outbreak of the First World War they turned for help to Russia, the empire’s most intractable foe, and in May 1915, with Russian assistance, they created an independent Armenian state. It lasted barely more than a month. In the aftermath, and, it must be said, amid rumors of the slaughter of Turks and Kurds by the victorious Armenian-Russian army, the authorities in Istanbul retaliated by deporting the entire Armenian population of the region to southeast Anatolia. In the process thousands were massacred or systematically tortured....”

Understanding world events requires a kind of intellect our nationalists don’t have. In fact they react with dread at the mere idea of being even-handed or widely educated as to how things work in the world...instead they cultivate a narrow focus which sees no further than their own private complaints and failures.
The above paragraph wasn’t written by a Turk but by an American and a Christian.

Dr Joseph mentions at this very time the intrigues and outrages brought to Turkey by Christian missionaries, backed by their respective governments and all of them with an eye cocked to the petroleum reserves which they craved. It was no secret that the European powers were on the look-out for any excuse to interfere in Ottoman affairs...always using “protection of Christians, as their excuse....and then obliging themselves by provoking confrontations or maltreating the Muslim population to fury in order to justify themselves...much as our own nationalists would like nothing more than a wholesale massacre of Christians in Iraq to “justify” their warnings about “insecurity” in the MidEast and how they simply MUST have a safe-haven.

It wasn’t the idea of the Ottomans to all of a sudden view their Christian subjects as a threat...a “fifth column”. On the contrary Christians and Jews had lived side by side and in relative peace in Turkey, considering what Christian nations were doing to each other and everyone else...not until the local Christians began believing promises of “help” and “protection” and made their hopes for foreign intervention known...along with seditious and treasonous acts, did the Ottomans become alarmed and then take action.

The ball was set rolling first by the foreign Christian powers and then by treasonous local Christians and only then did the Ottomans enter the game. What were they supposed to do?

What did America do to Afro-Americans? What would they have done to them if they’d joined forces with African or Muslim states attacking the United States?

In every single instance it was the behavior, not the religion, of the local Christians, their joining forces with foreign Christian invaders which led to retaliation...something any country on earth would have done to protect itself. Russian Christian armies had massacred thousands of Muslims...and for the Armenians to join forces with them in the slaughter was to risk retaliation...which is exactly what they got.

It was tragic of course...but not unusual at all...not even remarkable when you consider that Christians murdered six million Jews for nothing more than their religion...not to mention what they did to fellow-Christians during the religious wars of Europe.

Aprim, Stiffo, Jassim et. al., doom themselves through their ignorance and narrow-mindedness, which seems to be the only real mark of an Assyrian nationalist. And these people think a Muslim country id going to GIVE them land...or anything? They’re fortunate enough to be allowed equal rights....but special rights? For what? Being hopelessly stupid and proud of it?
