...at its core Christianity does not teach responsibility or morality....and not just with absolution through the confessional but at its very core and foundation.

Right now Western Christians are lamenting "their" problems with refugees...they don't want to hear about how these people came to be refugees, or that they bear any responsibility at all for destroying their countries and forcing them to flee...no it is Muhammad's doing.

Same with the war; America has no responsibility for the devastation in the MidEast...it's all Saddam's fault or the Taliban or Isis, anybody BUT the people who started this illegal war-for-profit.

Even with our own admitted war criminals we say, "let's not dwell on the past but move forward"..unless of course you're poor in which case everything you ever did will be held against you and you must "be brought to justice".

Hitchens said Christian teaching was not moral....especially the notion of vicarious redemption; that your sins could be forgiven, wiped clean, if you placed them on the neck of a goat, or Jesus, and killed IT. In other words there was a way, a moral way, for you to evade your moral responsibility for YOUR own crimes and sins....and that's what we see operating when Americans say "Who me? What did I do"?

They wash themselves clean of any crimes....it's the other guy who is personally responsible for EVERYTHING...hell we even blame Bush's war on THEM...they were so "oppressed" we just HAD to go liberate them.

...we're always the good guys no matter how badly we behave...and the other guy is NEVER innocent.
