....with you on some points.

Firstly at the time that our people were seeking their own nation state it was perfectly legitimate to attempt to define an Assyria for our Christian sects based upon the heritage of the ancients. This required a retrograde manufactured history establishing a direct link between us and our ancestors. Now John Joseph's book although in keeping with historical fact proves that we can only trace our family tree back to the Aramaens and not the ancient Assyrians. This may disturb some of our nationalists but it should be kept in perspective afterall the anceint Assyrian empire contained numerous ethnicities and religions. We may therefore safely conclude that although we are not direct descendants of the ancient Assyrians we are indigenous to Mesopotamia - but not more so than the Muslim population who are also descendants of the Aramaens - and we therefore can rightly claim that we share some of the ancient Assyrians' culture and diluted/Christianised traditions.

Although this is no different from Professor Ross's European Jews who claim direct descent from Abraham and perpetuate the manufactured history that they left their homeland and migrated to Europe in order to justify their modern theft and appropriation of Palestinian lands.

In fact many of the Middle Eastern and surrounding nation states were defined around a specific religion or sect. e.g. Armenian (Armenian Orthodox), Greek (Greek Orthodox), Turkey (Islam) etc. We unfortunately were too dispersed and too immature to form our own nation state for which we strill pine.

Our logical conclusion would therefore be to accept the bad hand that we've been dealt and obtain our human and religous rights as loyal citizens of the Middle Eastern nation states in which we reside instead of being used by external invaders as a fifth column to divide and conquer the region and steal their resources.

Dr Ross therefore remains in no position to look down at our retrograde politics and manufactured history which as bad as it is, is still no where near as retrograde and revisionist as Israel's history.
